Steve
Konopa
Executive Assistant
Steve is
currently serving as the UFCW Local 555
Executive Assistant. His primary duties
are to train and monitor the Union
Representatives of the Local.
Steve has
been a union member consecutively, since
1978 where he started as a meat cutter,
until such time when he became a Union
Representative working for the Local in
2000. He was appointed and later
elected to serve on the local’s
executive board as a Vice
President in 1996 which he still holds
today. In addition, Steve serves as a
Treasurer on the Linn-Benton-Lincoln
Labor Council, and on various other
Labor Councils around the state.
Steve is a life long resident of Oregon
and has lived in the mid Willamette
Valley his entire life. His wife Sharon
is an Albany City Councilor and is
involved with many non profit
organizations. Steve has a grown
daughter who is an accountant and is
married. Steve spends his pastime
involved in all sports, astronomy
camping, and golf. Steve’s motto in
life is simple, “strive to make a
difference in other people’s lives;
otherwise you are just wasting your
time." He often tells the story as to
how and why he got involved in the labor
movement, when asked he will tell you.
